How Does the Gerson Diet Promote Healing?
In 1992, Professor Yoshihiko Hoshino, a medical scientist at Fukushima Medical College on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan, learned that he had colon cancer. During surgery, the oncologist who removed the tumor discovered that the disease had already spread to the liver. While Professor Hoshino was recovering in the hospital after the operation, his friend and former classmate—the same oncologist who performed the surgery—advised him to undergo a series of chemotherapy treatments.
The treatment program developed by Dr. Max Gerson for acute and chronic degenerative diseases (such as cancer, diabetes, stroke, arthritis, and other life-threatening conditions) is fairly well known and widely respected in industrialized countries across Europe and Asia. Professor Hoshino was among a growing number of healthcare professionals familiar with Dr. Gerson’s book and aware of the medical effectiveness of the treatment program described in it.
Due to the severe side effects and high mortality rates associated with colon and rectal cancer, as well as the even poorer prognosis linked to liver metastases, the professor refused to take cytotoxic substances. Having access to one of the many copies of the Japanese translation of Dr. Gerson’s book, he decided to follow its guidelines and independently undergo Gerson Therapy.
Nearly nine years after the diagnosis, Dr. Hoshino and his oncologist announced that the patient had been “cured” of both colon cancer and liver metastases. Below is a letter that Charlotte Gerson received from Professor Yoshihiko Hoshino:
As you know, in 1992 I suffered from colon cancer with liver metastases and recovered thanks to Gerson Therapy. I wrote a book to introduce this treatment to patients and healthcare professionals in Japan. It was published in August 1998 and is the first publication in Japan about Gerson Therapy written by a physician. It caused quite a sensation in my country, as twelve additional patients who followed the Gerson program also recovered. My book not only tells the story of my own recovery, but also presents the stories of these twelve Japanese patients who no longer have cancer.
All information presented here comes from the book The Gerson Therapy and is intended solely for theoretical and educational purposes.
If I had not personally followed Gerson Therapy, it would probably be difficult for me to believe this story. However, I am another living proof that this form of health support truly works.
I came across it when I was already in a state of deep despair. But let me start from the beginning. One day I woke up feeling terrible. The next day was the same. What’s more, I felt my strength and energy fading hour by hour. Even though I was eating for two, I was losing weight at an alarming rate. The worst part was that doctors had no idea what was wrong with me or how to help. Yes, they examined me thoroughly—even my head. You guessed it: they even sent me to a psychiatrist. Yet none of the tests gave them an answer as to what was happening to me.
Eventually, I said to myself, “Enough.” I knew that if I didn’t start acting on my own, it would be the end for me. And so, while desperately searching for help, I came across Gerson Therapy. At first, I approached it with great skepticism. I didn’t really believe in its effectiveness. But I thought it couldn’t make things worse—so what did I have to lose by trying?
Fortunately, my intuition did not fail me. Day by day, Gerson Therapy brought my life back to normal. I drank freshly pressed juices, ate soup made from fresh vegetables, and slowly returned to life. Of course, I followed the therapy’s recommendations strictly. I was highly motivated, especially because I could see the results.
And that’s how it remains to this day. Now I know exactly why Gerson Therapy is called a miracle.
I experienced that miracle myself.
